ISED Seeks Public Comments on New Digital Transmission Systems and Wireless Standards

The Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) has announced a public consultation on the revised standard, RSS-247, Issue 4, which outlines the certification requirements for various wireless communication systems. The consultation document covers Digital Transmission Systems (DTS), Frequency Hopping Systems (FHS), Hybrid Systems, and Licence-Exempt Local Area Networks (LE-LAN) operating within the 902-928 MHz, 2400-2483.5 MHz, 5150-5350 MHz, and 5470-5895 MHz frequency bands.

The revised standards are designed to provide clearer guidelines and ensure the efficient and compliant operation of these systems in Canada. This is especially important for a wide range of applications, from everyday Wi-Fi networks to advanced communication systems used in various industries.

ISED is inviting stakeholders, including industry participants, researchers, and the general public, to submit comments on the proposed revisions. The deadline for feedback is May 5, 2025.
