The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has adopted final rules allowing FM radio stations greater flexibility in customizing content for different parts of their service areas through program-originating FM booster stations. Previously, booster stations were limited to rebroadcasting signals to areas with poor reception, but the new rules allow broadcasters to air targeted content, such as local weather reports and regional advertisements, to specific geographic zones. This marks a shift from the temporary and experimental use of booster technology. The new rules aim to support broadcasters in delivering more tailored programming while preventing interference with primary station signals.
