Colombia's National Spectrum Agency (ANE) unveiled plans to regulate the technical conditions for cabin radars in vehicles operating within the 57 – 64 GHz band, aimed at bolstering vehicle safety through the detection of occupancy, intruders, glass breakage, and seat belt usage monitoring. The ANE's decision followed a review of international practices, which concluded that these radars pose no interference risk to radio communication systems, thus proposing their integration under the modality of free spectrum use. Technical parameters were set to mitigate unwanted emissions from PLC systems.
Interested parties have until February 13, 2024, to provide feedback on the proposed regulations.
